Septura welcomes Kaitlin Wild

Septura is delighted to welcome Kaitlin Wild, Sub-Principal Trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as the newest member of the group.

Kaitlin first played with Septura when she took part in the Royal Academy of Music side-by-side in 2018. Since then she has worked on a number of projects with the group, and in October 2025 she toured with the group on a wide-ranging tour of the US.

Kaitlin grew up playing the cornet in brass bands, and went on to study the Trumpet at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Academy of Music. Alongside her studies Kaitlin also took part in the LSO Brass Academy and the European Union Youth Orchestra.

After several years of freelancing in orchestras across the UK, Kaitlin joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra as Principal Second Trumpet before taking up her current position with the RPO. When not performing, she enjoys teaching at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and is also a Bach Brass Artist.

Septura trumpet player James Fountain said:

“Kaitlin is a wonderful trumpet player, and makes an incredible contribution to the unique sound of Septura. She’s such an alert and sensitive musician that playing chamber music with her in the group is a total joy. As we look to the next phase in Septura’s development, it’s wonderful to have such a positive, energetic and talented colleague as Kaitlin on board.”

Kaitlin Wild said:

“Since first playing with Septura in a student side-by-side project at the Royal Academy of Music in 2018, I have continued to be blown away by the exceptional standard of music-making that the group produces. I feel extremely fortunate to be joining a group of players that continue to inspire me day in, day out, and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming projects.”
